About the Institute

The Institute for Continuing Medical and Pharmaceutical Education (Institute of CMPE) is a structural subdivision of BelSU and carries out its activities in accordance with the license for the right to conduct educational activities in the field of additional professional education and vocational training.

The development and implementation of additional vocational programs of professional retraining, advanced training for medical and pharmaceutical professionals is carried out in accordance with professional standards and regulatory legal acts of the Ministry of Health of Russia, the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia.

History of the Institute

The Institute for Continuing Medical and Pharmaceutical Education of BelSU is the successor of the Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education, established in 2002.

Since 2016, the Institute has been registered in the system of continuous medical and pharmaceutical education of the Ministry of Health of Russia (Continuous Medical and Pharmaceutical Education Portal, CMPE) for healthcare professionals. The CMPE Portal provides organization and accounting of educational activities within the framework of continuous medical and pharmaceutical education.

In 2017, the Institute opened an accreditation and simulation center designed for primary accreditation of graduates of the Medical Institute, Institute of Pharmacy, Chemistry and Biology, Medical College, primary specialized accreditation of residents, doctors, and pharmacists.

Main goals and objectives of the institute

The aim of the Institute's work is the development of continuous medical and pharmaceutical education; development and implementation of programs of additional professional education aimed at obtaining or improving the competencies of a specialist necessary for professional activity.

Objectives:

• preparation of highly qualified medical and pharmaceutical professionals, possessing an extensive amount of theoretical and practical knowledge, capable of successfully solving professional problems;
• meeting the needs of specialists with higher and secondary medical and pharmaceutical education in obtaining new knowledge about the achievements in the relevant fields of science and technology, best domestic and foreign experience;
• professional retraining and advanced training of specialists with higher and intermediate medical and pharmaceutical education;
• consulting activity.

The main forms of training include full-time, part-time with the use of e- learning and distance learning technologies.

Simulation learning technologies, telecommunication technologies, including therapeutic and diagnostic consultations, demonstrations of operations, manipulations using modern medical equipment and technologies, videoconferences, are actively introduced into the educational process. Training is conducted at clinical departments located in the leading health care institutions of the city and the region, where the most qualified specialists and the latest medical equipment are concentrated: St. Joasaph Belgorod Regional Clinical Hospital, Belgorod Regional Psychoneurological Hospital, Belgorod Regional Narcological Dispensary, and Belgorod Regional TB Dispensary, City Hospital No. 2, Children's Regional Clinical Hospital, Territorial Administration of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare in the Belgorod Region, Medtekhnika, and central district hospitals.

The academic staff of the Medical Institute, the Institute of Pharmacy, Chemistry and Biology, other institutes of Belgorod State University, the leading specialists in practical health care of the city and the region, invited professors, scientists from leading universities and scientific organizations of the country are involved in the educational process.

The training is carried out according to additional advanced professional programs:

professional retraining:

• from 500 training hours for specialists having higher medical/pharmaceutical education,
• from 288 training hours for specialists having secondary medical/pharmaceutical education.

Graduates who have successfully mastered the program and passed the final examination shall be issued a diploma on professional retraining of the established sample.

advanced training:

• in the volume of 144 training hours for specialists with secondary and higher medical/pharmaceutical education;
• 16 training hours for specialists with secondary and higher medical/pharmaceutical education.

Graduates who have successfully mastered the program and passed the final certification will get a certificate of advanced training in accordance with the established form.

Accreditation and Simulation Center

Functions:

• improvement of professional competencies, practical skills using simulated treatment and diagnostic procedures and medical manipulations with the help of simulation equipment;
• organizing and conducting training under additional professional programs (simulation cycles) in basic medical skills;
• organizational, material and technical support for the work of accreditation commissions during all stages of initial accreditation and initial specialized accreditation of medical and pharmaceutical professionals with higher and secondary education;
• organizing and carrying out pre-accreditation (adaptation) additional professional programs with pilot testing in the unified database of assessment tools;
• organizing and carrying out scientific research on topical problems of simulation-based medical education;
• preparation of university students to participate in all-Russian competitions in the field of medicine.

The Accreditation and Simulation Center has a well-developed infrastructure and is equipped with modern educational and methodological equipment:

• a lecture hall;
• a computer room for 30 seats;
• a debriefing room;
• simulation halls for different fields of medicine:

Emergency room. It is equipped with an ambulance and equipment necessary for emergency situations.

Ward unit. Two wards simulating the operation of almost any medical hospital department.

Manipulation room. A room for practicing various manual skills.

An intensive care ward. Imitates the work of a real intensive care unit. The ward allows to train in basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Operating room with a preoperative room. Fully simulates the activities and environment of any surgical profile.

Maternity hall. It is equipped with modern equipment, allowing to fully immerse into the environment of obstetrics and gynecology.

Endovideosurgery room. It is equipped with virtual simulators for laparoscopy, endoscopy and cystoscopy. It is a base for the student surgery club. It is especially popular not only among students and residents of the Medical Institute, but also among practicing doctors.

Functional diagnostics room. It is equipped with a highly realistic Physico mannequin which gives the possibility to master the skills of physical examination of organs of the chest and abdominal cavity. The ultrasound diagnostic apparatus allows practicing ultrasound control skills in various diagnostic activities.

Since 2018, the Center has been providing training at the Medical Process Factory. This promotes medical professionals' mastery of lean manufacturing tools in practice.

Training at the Medical Process Factory is carried out within the framework of implementation of additional professional development programs “Lean Polyclinic” and “Lean Accreditation” for specialists with secondary and higher medical education.

Advantages of training include:

• unlimited number of repetitions and training sessions;
• performance of skills according to federal standards, using a unified database of assessment tools;
• streaming video and software allow to arrange debriefings with detailed analysis of the features of various clinical scenarios;
• possibility of preclinical mastery of modern equipment and technologies.
