II. Academia
2.1. Scholar schools
The Department of Computer Science, Natural Sciences and Teaching Methods develops a research project «Adaptive modeling in the living and non-living systems». Under this project, research on the following topics is conducted:
- Virtual and augmented reality technologies (leading scholar – associate professor O.N. Satler);
- Modeling of the morphofunctional state of nuclear hemocytes in vertebrates at adaptation to various environmental factors (leading scholar S.D. Cherniavskikh);
- The physics of the interaction of relativistic electrons with periodic structures» (leading scholars S.V. Blazhevic, Y.P. Gladkikh;
- Automation of complex measuring devices and stands (leading scholar – associate professor M.A. Velichko).
Teachers of the Faculty, doctorate, graduate and undergraduate students are involved in research activities on each topic. Research and experimental work is carried out in scientists laboratories and experimental grounds of Belgorod and region.
2.2. Leading scholars
The research team led by professor S.V. Blazhevich is engaged in research in the field of coherent X-ray radiation.
2.3. Key research results
The research team of the Department of Mathematics for the past 5 years received financial support by RNF, BelSU, Erasmus+. The teachers of the department developed the following projects and achieved the following results:
- in the field of «Modeling of the morphofunctional state of nuclear hemocytes of vertebrate animals during adaptation to the action of various environmental factors» the role of nuclear erythrocytes of representatives of vertebrate animals in the implementation of the protective function, manifested in the processes of migration and phagocytosis, was studied; Using the method of atomic force microscopy, compensatory-adaptive reactions of the plasmalemma of nuclear hemocytes of vertebrates, closely related to the morphometric parameters of blood cells, in response to temperature changes and a decrease in the osmolarity of the medium, are shown;
- in the field of «Automation of complex measuring devices and stands» a model and elements of aerodynamic systems were prepared for a reference stationary verification installation within the framework of the project "Development of a system for sampling and analysis of the content of suspended particles in the air" of the Razvitie-SOPR 2020 program; the aerodynamic system of the reference mobile verification unit was assembled and successfully tested.
For the correct autonomous operation of the system and processing of the results, the following have been developed: “Algorithm for signal processing in piezo- and optical sensors”, “Algorithm for auto-tracking of a vision radiation source”; a prototype of an automated device for determining the flash point controlled via WiFi was created, an algorithm for the operation of its individual components was developed as part of a project commissioned by FSUE Neftekhimavtomatika.
- in the field of «Physics of interaction of relativistic electrons with periodic structures» the interactions of beams of relativistic electrons with crystals and artificial periodic media have been studied; computer simulation of physical processes was carried out, the data of a physical experiment were processed, and a program was created that allows obtaining a resolution of digital images that is much higher than the resolution of the recording devices themselves;
- in the field of «Virtual and augmented reality technologies» DPP PP "Web-programming in professional activity" was developed for students to obtain additional qualifications in the IT profile on the basis of the digital department in the framework of the "Priority-2030" program No. 20180181; Certificates of state registration of computer programs “Educational program “Metro Informatics Game”, Educational Informatics Game “Find a way out”, etc.; a master's program "Training STEM Teachers" was developed as part of the implementation of the international project "Integrated Approach to Training STEM Teachers" under the European Union's "Erasmus +" program; a comprehensive program has been developed for students of mathematical and natural science profiles of the School of National Research University "BelSU" using STEM technologies.
III. The Faculty's achievements in scholar, educational and methodological activities
Teachers of the Faculty actively participate in the implementation of the «Creation of the BSU Higher School» project since 2013. «BSU National Research School» is now a structural division of the university, whose main goal is to attract talented students to the university, creating conditions for their intellectual development, providing them with the profile of training in specific subjects, proliferation and popularization of scientific knowledge.
«BSU National Research School» trains 6-11 grades students of comprehensive schools that formed profile classes in the framework of concluded agreements on cooperation with BSU, as well as students participating in thematic events of the NRU "BelSU" School. Highly qualified teachers of BSU are involved in the process, and modern technical facilities of the University are used.
Currently, the «BSU Higher School» runs over 40 additional educational programs that foster differentiated education in mathematical and scientific subjects. As a result of further development of educational programs, more than 600 students received «BSU Higher School» certificates.
Since 2022, the faculty has been actively involved in the Digital Chairs project. This project is being implemented within the framework of the federal project "Development of human resources in the IT industry" of the national program "Digital Economy of the Russian Federation".
The project is aimed at developing in students the digital competencies demanded by the modern labor market. Students are given a unique opportunity to undergo professional retraining at the Digital Department in an educational organization of higher education (participant in the Priority 2030 strategic academic leadership program) and receive additional qualifications in the IT profile without interrupting the educational process.
Depending on interests and preferences, students can choose a retraining program: "Software and information means of implementation", "Web programming in professional activities", "Technologies of virtual and augmented reality", "Programming in corporate information systems (1C)". As a result of the training, students will receive digital competencies in the field of creating algorithms and developing programs, and will also be able to get a relevant and highly paid profession. Classes under the programs of the "Digital Department" are taught by experienced teachers of the National Research University "BelSU", as well as attracted highly qualified employees of IT companies with experience in the IT industry. In case of successful completion of the program, the student will receive a state diploma of professional retraining and the right to work in an additional specialty.
