About the Institute
The Institute of Social Sciences and Mass Communications was established in 2018 by combining into a single academic community the scientific and pedagogical staff of the Faculty of Journalism and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Theology named after Metropolitan of Moscow and Kolomna Makarii (Bulgakov).
The Institute organizes educational and research activities on educational programs of media communication and socio-humanitarian sphere.

The Institute employs 24 doctors and 54 candidates of sciences, as well as experienced teachers-practitioners – representatives of the journalistic community, heads of state and municipal institutions, public organizations.

The departments of the Institute of Social Sciences and Mass Communications teach students in accordance with federal state educational standards and independently established standards of the National Research University "BelSU".

The Institute has a up to date material and technical base. There are computer classes and language labs, research centers, a media laboratory, an office of technical training facilities with digital equipment for operational journalistic work and PR activities (video cameras, projection equipment), a recording studio, a photo studio, classrooms equipped with video conferencing equipment, allowing online and remote training. The classrooms of the Institute are properly equipped for comfortable mastering by students of any of the educational programs.

The Institute of Social Sciences and Mass Communications is a multidisciplinary research center, whose scientists make a significant contribution to the development of applied social sciences.

International cooperation
The Institute of Social Sciences and Mass Communications develops international cooperation in the educational and scientific fields.
The main directions of cooperation with foreign partner universities:

Academic mobility
Academic mobility of the Institute is carried out mainly within the framework of existing bilateral agreements between partner universities.
Students of the Institute of Social Sciences and Mass Communications have the opportunity to complete an included semester training at partner universities, improve their professional level, improve language skills, undergo practical training in specialized institutions of host countries, and make new friends.
The Institute implements a joint educational program with the T.G. Shevchenko Pridnestrovian State University in the field of training "Social Work".

Students are included in the work of interest clubs, including: student scientific society, media school, young family club, student center for the prevention of youth extremism, volunteer corps, student project office, intellectual club, studio of practical philosophy, press club and others.
Most of the youth actions and events at the Institute are designed on the principles of self-organization. The key body of student self-government is the institute's asset, which unites youth leaders in various fields of creativity.
