The 2015 Song Festival, a big music event was held in early March in the Concert hall by the students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages. It is regarded as a final stage of 4th year students’ school teaching practice.
Teaching practice is a relevant constituent element of educational process within future teachers’ professional training. Our students were sent to secondary schools, lyceums, gymnasiums located in the city of Belgorod and towns and cities of Belgorod region. During school teaching practice students are involved in planning lesson notes and conducting classes under school and University supervision as well as educational activities at schools.
We took initiative to restore to our faculty tradition uniting all the students, schoolchildren and school teachers (ex-students of our University) to celebrate the beginning of spring with songs, smiles and jokes which were sure to put everybody in a good mood. The Song Festival was not only easy-going tunes, rhythmical dance movements, magical looking costumes of the performers but thorough students’ preparatory work: choice of song repertoire, memorizing song lyrics, rehearsals, ways to introduce a song, music stage design ideas and etc.
Students proved to be caring tutors: they brought their schoolchildren to the Concert hall, organized the performance and took them home. There were lots of wall displays and bulletin boards in the foyer where the school children found the photos of their friends taken by the students.
Four Masters of Ceremonies conducted a program in English, French, German and Russian entertaining the public and giving fun cultural facts.
The Festival was organized and held by the Student Council with Nadezhda Yudina at the head. Thanks to her strong leadership skills and good coordination the event went on without a hitch. She was able to attract top performers who managed to create a festive atmosphere including a dance flash mob on the stage, balloons and sweets for kids, prize winners’ awards, school pictures of led back stage screen. The faculty is proud of the students who are not afraid of using initiative and taking responsibility; among them are Nadezhda Yudina, Alexander Lyakina, Victoria Plotnikova, Arina Arkhangelskaya, Dennis Sukonnikov, Katherine Orlova, Angelina Pavlenko, Anastasia Cherep.
This event was held within the programme “Teachers’ Training in the XXI century” aimed at harmonization of teaching and training courses to promote quality improvement of a new generation of teachers under supervision of Professor K.Rakova, Associate Professor N. Kudryavtseva, Associate Professor L.Borisova and Associate Professor N.Treshchova.
