Special-purpose program «Acessibility» in the center of attention of the BelSU Principal’s Public Council
The Vice Principal for study and informatization Alexander Mamatov has reported that BelSU takes the 37th place from 311 higher education institutions of the country on existence of the conditions necessary for training of students with disability. Today at our university 159 young people with limited physical capacities study. Installation of special elevators, elevators, arrangement of sanitary rooms, acquisition of the special computer equipment, social support is only a small list of the undertaken measures in order that these students felt more comfortably in university.
Survey conducted among young people with disability has shown that 75 percent are satisfied with conditions and environment organized for them. 95% of these students told that they like student's life. The director of Social Development Center Tatyana Nikulina has suggested to prolong the BelSU “Accessibility” program till 2021, and organize tutoring for students with disabilities.
The Public council appraised the work on implementation of the program was made and recommended to continue it. The principal of BelSU Oleg Polukhin has emphasized that the administration of university has to be more attentive to problems of disabled people: not only students, but also employees.
