A lecturer of the Institute of Intercultural Communication and International Relations of Belgorod State University conducted a training session on audio-visual translation of Chinese media content at the “Open Dialogue” International Forum
Being organized for sinologists from various countries by Sinology Advancement Association (SAA) the XIV “Open Dialogue” Forum was dedicated to Chinese language teaching at universities. It brought together teachers of Chinese language and culture, including native speakers, specialists in linguistics, ethnography and country studies, experts in traditional arts, as well as authors of books, textbooks, publishers and developers of electronic educational courses and training software, employers interested in competent and professional employees. The open event was attended by the interested Chinese language students and those studying Russian as a foreign language.
Due to the difficult epidemiological situation the forum meeting was held via videoconferencing. As a speaker Galina Struchalina, an Associate Professor of the Second Foreign Language Department, presented the author's manuals for interpreters teaching and conducted a training course “From the Script to Voice Recording”. The course enabled the students of 3-5the year of study to learn the specific features of subtitles and different types of voice recording, ways to overcome differences in cultural allusions and the linguistic tools that create accurate psychological portraits of the characters in films and TV shows. By the example of an amusing Chinese cartoon with philosophical content the participants were acquainted with the basic steps to work with the text of a multimedia production interpreter.
According to the feedback received from the forum participants and the audience, the session was interesting, informative and very useful.
