The event offered an immersion into Russian cuisine and shared the celebration of Higher School Teachers’ Day.
Associate Professor of the Department of Food Technology at the BelSU Institute of Pharmacy, Chemistry and Biology, Olga Binkovskaya, PhD in Biology, and Associate Professor of the Department of Russian Language, Professional Speech and Intercultural Communication at the BelSU Institute of Intercultural Communication and International Relations Nadezhda Semashkina, PhD in Philology, introduced the masterclass participants to traditional Russian cuisine.
Under their guidance, first-year Chinese students of the Belgorod Institute of Food Science at Dezhou University cooked vareniki (Slavic variety of dumplings), mashed potatoes with bacon, and cabbage pies. The main festive treat were yeast dough apple pies baked together be students and teachers and decorated with logos of the two universities.
The Chinese students showed a keen interest in the technology of cooking Russian dishes, and were excited to taste their creations.
‘It's very tasty! The master class of teachers from Belgorod National Research University was very useful and informative for our Chinese students. They learned many new Russian words and received a lot of useful information about the features of traditional Russian cuisine,’ noted Zhu Xinjun, the teacher of the course on Food Dietology.
For the record. The Belgorod Institute of Food Sciences at Dezhou University was created in partnership with BelSU in 2022. The Institute offers training in four bachelor's degree programmes: Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, and Technology of products and organization of public catering. The programmes are delivered in the Chinese, English and Russian languages. Upon programme completion, graduates receive two diplomas: of Belgorod and Dezhou universities.
