The event was coordinated by the Institute of Engineering and Digital Technologies in collaboration with the university’s Department of Youth Policy and Educational Activities.
Students from Belgorod Secondary School No. 4 visited Belgorod National Research University (BelSU) for an engaging tour and participated in an interactive master class led by Yuri Chashin, a lecturer in the Department of Applied Informatics and Information Technology.
Chashin guided the Schoolchildren through the process of developing an iOS app using the Swift programming language and the Xcode development environment.
Under his expert guidance, the students immersed themselves in hands-on work within a specialized environment designed for mobile app construction. They learned to navigate the interface and logic necessary for building apps for the Apple platform, gradually creating their own calculator application. The students entered code sequentially, configured the user interface, and defined conditions for arithmetic operations, bringing their buttons to life to perform calculations.
“The visual results helped the students gain a fresh perspective on the IT profession, demonstrating that creating digital products is an engaging and accessible creative process,” Chashin noted.
Following the master class, the students toured the BelSU Scientific Achievements Exhibition, where they were introduced to various applied research projects and innovative developments across scientific fields. They explored high-tech initiatives from the university’s research teams in mechanical engineering, many of which have been showcased at prestigious international exhibitions.
The students also visited the classrooms of the Department of Information and Telecommunication Systems and Technologies. There, they interacted with training stands focused on data transmission systems, examined signal oscillograms, evaluated parameters, and tested real telecommunications equipment.
