The University’s team not only presented cutting-edge research but also conducted a unique hands-on training session that became a highlight of the congress.
Faculty from Belgorod State University’s Medical Institute took centre stage at the 13th Transradial Endovascular Course in Moscow, one of Russia’s premier events for modern endovascular surgery.
Senior Lecturer Oleg Starodubov and Assistant Professor Maxim Kapranov presented results from a multicentre study on endovascular haemostasis in patients with severe trauma – a critical interdisciplinary challenge. Senior Lecturer Larisa Shekhovtsova addressed personalized drug therapy strategies for critically ill cardiac patients, drawing on her extensive experience with Belgorod cardiac surgery teams.
The BelSU team’s master class drew significant attention. Using highly realistic simulators, participants practiced over 50 clinical scenarios, including vascular injuries and congenital anomalies. The models replicated the full cardiac cycle and extreme patient conditions. A key focus was precision neurointerventions, where the surgical field measures less than one centimetre and demands pinpoint accuracy.
“Training on this simulator lets students see the direct results of their interventions with their own eyes,” noted Oleg Starodubov. “This live experience can be decisive in choosing endovascular surgery as a specialty and consciously pursuing a specialized residency.”
The department is now exploring ways to integrate the simulator into its curriculum and offer career-guidance seminars for senior students – a development that underscores BelSU’s commitment to immersive, technology-driven medical education.| << Back to the list |
