Academic Council of the university discussed development program of engineering and natural science education
The regular meeting of the academic council under the chairmanship of the rector of BelSU professor Oleg Polukhin took place at the university
The vice rector for study and IT Alexander Mamatov has told the audience about development of engineering and natural-science education at BelSU. He has noted that the university conducts training of specialists in 50 engineering and natural-science programs and specialties on the basis of four structural divisions of BelSU: Institute of engineering technologies and Natural sciences, Mining and environmental management Department, Medical Institute, Engineering college. The best experts, and materials are attracted to the improvement of engineering education’s quality.
Alexander Mamatov has reported that future plans include 17 new specialties under which new laboratories will be created and equipped; increase of "contract specialists" and contracts with basic departments on realization of the practice-focused training of students. The vice rector has noted that it is planned to create and equip 19 research laboratories and to open new specialties of secondary professional education on the grounds of Engineering college until 2022.
Summing up the result of discussion, the rector Oleg Polukhin has noted that for successful implementation of the program of engineering education development at BelSU it is necessary to study experience of the classical universities which incorporate the engineering and natural-science directions, and structure the offered target program accurately.
Members of the academic council have assumed the draft of the program as a basis of a project which will be finished within a month.
