This initiative, designed to express gratitude and support for Russian soldiers, resonated deeply with international students and faculty at Belgorod State University.
Participants from the Preparatory Department and the Institute of Cross-cultural Communication and International Relations at Belgorod National Research University (BelSU) came together to take part in this all-Russian campaign.
Students and faculty visited local radio stations Mir Belogorya and Radio Z, where they addressed soldiers live on air, presenting heartfelt cards and hand-crafted stars as symbols of their appreciation. These tokens served as a bridge, connecting them to those serving on the front lines. In a further gesture of support, faculty members from the department donated boxes of protein bars to an independent volunteer assault brigade.
“When I was holding this star in my hands, I thought of heroism and selflessness. I wanted to convey our support, to show that we are thinking of the soldiers, appreciating their work, and wishing them a speedy return home. It’s a great honour for me to be part of this campaign,” shared Inácio Fula, a student from Angola at the Institute of Cross-cultural Communication and International Relations.
For BelSU students and faculty, the Star to a Hero Campaign transcended mere formalities; it became a profound opportunity to express their respect and gratitude. Heartfelt congratulations for the upcoming Russian holiday echoed through the broadcast, infused with hope for peace and the safe return of all soldiers.
