'Unity of the Peoples Day', a day marking a declaration of amity between the peoples of Russia and Belarus was marked by the Institute of Management's Department of Social Technologies.
A whole series of events aimed at developing bilateral cooperation between our countries was organised by the Department in honour of the occasion. Unity of the Peoples Day is celebrated annually on 2nd April, the anniversary of the day in 1996 that the agreement 'On the Formation of the Community of Russia and Belarus' was signed.
One of the events dedicated to this date was a video link-up with students from Belarusian National Technological University. Students from Belgorod and Minsk were able to ask each other questions, and suggest ways of cooperation aimed at developing the alliance. During the video-conference, the participants discussed the problems of and prospects for the alliance, outlined plans for the future, and talked about the possibility of creating and implementing new joint projects aimed at greater interaction between the experts, youth and students of Russia and Belarus.
Victor Sapryka, Head of the Department of Social Technologies, took part in a round table on the theme of 'Media Space in the Russian/Belarusian Borderlands: Problems and Perspectives', which took place in Smolensk. During the round table, the issues of forming a single information space for Russia and Belarus, cooperation in the media, interaction between universities and experts, and the development of border regions were touched upon.
Throughout the week the Department of Social Technologies also held open lectures on the history of the development of the alliance, the main results of cooperation and the priorities for further interaction.
