As part of Science Week, Belgorod National Research University has announced the results of its annual competition celebrating outstanding scientific research conducted by students, master’s candidates, and postgraduates in 2024.
Over 100 young researchers competed for prestigious titles, including “Student Researcher,” “Best Postgraduate Student of the Year,” and “Laureate of the Belgorod National Research University Competition in the Field of Research Work,” spanning natural sciences, humanities, and technical disciplines. Following a thorough review of applications, 43 individuals were awarded prizes.
Elena Skripnikova, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development, Science, and Innovations at BelSU, congratulated the winners on their remarkable achievements. She expressed her confidence that these laureates would make significant contributions to the advancement of Russian science.
“It’s wonderful to see such talented young researchers here. Aim high and advance home-grown research!” emphasized Skripnikova.
Following the award ceremony, an event within the All-Russian “Engineers of Victory” campaign paid tribute to university veterans.
Yulia Sheludchenko, Senior Lecturer in the Department of General History, honoured Fyodor Estis, who played a pivotal role in modernising the university during his vice-rectorship from 1975 to 1987.
Roman Ivashina, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy and Theology, celebrated Matvey Gudimov, a pioneer in aviation materials.
Associate Professor Alexander Zalivin from the Department of Mathematical and Software Support of Information Systems discussed the importance of continuing the legacy of 1940s engineers to enhance Russia’s technological leadership.
In addition, BelSU’s Scientific Library hosted an exhibition titled “Engineers of Victory” in honour of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.
