July 28 is World Hepatitis Day. Specialists of BNRU Healthcare Center told about the causes of the disease and gave advice on how to avoid it
Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver that affects the entire body, caused mainly by a certain infection or virus. Despite the effectiveness of diagnostics, this disease has a high prevalence among the population of all age groups. Specialists define acute and chronic hepatitis.
Depending on the specificity of origin, hepatitis is divided into 5 main types - A (or Botkin's disease), B, C, D, E. Causes of hepatitis are: prolonged exposure to the various toxic substances, long-term use of medications - antibiotics, sedatives and drugs, sex without protection, tattooing with a non-sterile instrument etc.
The best way to protect yourself from hepatitis is to prevent the disease and observe simple rules of your own protection: always wash your hands thoroughly with soap, drink boiled water, eat well washed vegetables and fruits, use heat treatment of food, do not do not give people your personal items hygiene (toothbrush, razor, manicure set) and so on.
