BNRU was the venue for the opening of the first 'Russian-Uzbek Business Incubator', a project aimed at forging closer academic and business ties with Uzbekistan
The opening ceremony was held in the Academic Council Hall at BNRU, and involved representatives from our University, Belgorod State Technological University, Belgorod University of Cooperation, Economics and Law, Belgorod State Agrarian University, and the Belgorod branch of the Russian Union of Youth, meeting counterparts from the Central Council of the Uzbek Union of Youth, and the Republic of Uzbekistan Centre for Supporting Youth Entrepreneurship (RUCSYE).
In his opening address Professor Oleg Polukhin, Rector of BNRU, spoke about our University's achievements and improving performance in the world's leading ratings. He was keen to emphasise our commitment to entrepreneurship, and the symbiosis of education, science and business. He continued by suggesting that this new partnership is a natural fit for an outward looking University.
Then Dr Shavkat Zaripov, Director of the RUCSYE, took to the stage to underline the fact that Russia and Uzbekistan are close historically and culturally. He stressed the need to strengthen social and economic ties, asserting that the Business Incubator will contribute to this and wishing all those involved every success.
The program will see an exchange of students, 10 from our Region's Universities and 10 from universities in Uzbekistan, spending two weeks here attending workshops, lectures and classes, and touring local businesses. Then, in November they will go to Uzbekistan, and engage in a similar program. It is hoped that participants will be able to sign first agreements and contracts with new partners. The leaders of the Incubator say that among the main goals of the project is the sharing of new technology and methods effecting economic thinking, the spread of information, and the social processes of Russia and Uzbekistan. They also hope that this will foster the creation of successful businesses based on international youth cooperation, identify promising business projects, and assist in promoting and commercialising them in the markets of our two countries.
