Professor Andrei Polonsky, Head of the Journalism Faculty at the Institute of Social Sciences and Mass Communication, has given a series of lectures at the University of Bergamo
Professor Polonsky, who took his Doctorate in philology, was lecturing in Bergamo to Masters students as part of BNRU's 'Academic Mobility' program, which is a series of partnerships with Universities around the globe. The program is aimed at sharing resources and ideas, as well as working with Universities which offer courses similar to those offered at BNRU. It is also a way to raise awareness of what we do.
The subject for the lectures was 'The Language of Modern Mass Media: Problems with Translation', a thorough analysis of modern Russian media speak. He illustrated this by recounting his experience of translating media texts from Russian into Italian. On the 11th December the University of Bergamo celebrates its 50th anniversary, and a delegation from BNRU will attend the function.
