Belgorod State University Tourism students Ekaterina Savopulo and Aizat Kuymasheva, the latter an exchange student from Kazakhstan, won a prize at the 3rd annual student WorldSkills competition, held at VDNKh in Moscow
WorldSkills Russia organised the event as part of the WorldSkills movement, which is designed to promote and reward professional skills, regardless of discipline. The event involved 500 competitors from 73 Russian universities, and ran for two days covering 52 competencies. Over 500 experts were involved in evaluating the work.
Along with Ms Savopulo Ms Kuymasheva, our University provided the services of two expert assessors, Dr Ekaterina Vishnevskaya and Dr Inna Koroleva, who both teach Travel and Tourism. Our two students submitted their work in the 'Organising Excursions' section, and demonstrated what they had learned about conducting excursions, teaching classes, creating an audio guide using a mobile application, and handling applications for excursions. A score of 478 from a possible 549, placed them in the top 5.
