The first international scientific and methodological seminar “Methods of Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language: Modern Problems and Solutions” was held at BelSU
The meeting was held as part of the program on promoting Russian language abroad. Olga Prokhorova, the Director of BelSU Institute for Intercultural Communication and International Relations, who opened the seminar, noted that Russian language does not lose its leading position in the world. During the plenary session Tatyana Samosenkov, Doctor of Pedagogy, Professor of the Department of Russian Language, Professional Speech and Intercultural Communication, analyzed the problem related to the abundance of information in the modern society. In this regard, she noted that a careful selection of what must be included in the “knowledge base” of an international student is required.
Foreign colleagues Milos Pupavac, representing Singidunum University (Serbia), Marina Klochkova from Slovakia, Masha Obradovic from Bosnia and Herzegovina, described how Russian language is persevered and spread in educational institutions of European countries. The seminar raised the relevant issues faced by the modern higher education lecturers: the use of the native language in the learning process, the return to the modular principle of teaching the professional Russian language.
