Belgorod State University held a short-term online course from Elsevier Expert Club. The scientific seminar “Elsevier Resources and Services to Support Authors of Scientific Publications” was held by Olga Dehnich, the Deputy Director for Research of the Institute of Intercultural Communication and International Relations. The aim of the seminar was to familiarize the participants with the range of products and services of the platform, which can be useful not only in the learning process, but also for scientific papers writing.
A total of 147 people participated in the seminar including BelSU lecturers and doctoral students as well as representatives of the university partner – VladMiVa Experimental Plant, managers and experts of Elsevier (Russia).
It is worth noting that BelSU has a national subscription providing unlimited access to the Scopus and ScienceDirect databases. However, navigating through these products requires certain knowledge and training. During the workshop Olga Dehnich explained how to use the keyword search and the main features of an author’s profile.
The participants were also introduced to Elsevier Researcher Academy, a free learning platform for scientists. The features of this platform are particularly relevant for novice researchers and lecturers.
During the course the participants were given assignments for independent work. Lecturers and doctoral students who successfully completed the assignments received an electronic certificate for 12 academic hours, developed by the Institute of Intercultural Communication and International Relations together with Natalya Kiriy, the Director of BelSU Centre for Competence Development.
