Scientific seminar "Translation Yesterday and Today: Modern Technologies in the Work of Translators" was timed to coincide with the International Translation Day.
The scientific seminar united all the participants with a common idea – to exchange knowledge about modern technologies in translation activities and experience of their application in practice. 2-5-year students, teachers of Romano-Germanic Philology Department of the Institute for Cross-cultural Communication and International Relations and a graduate of the Institute, working at the plant "Hochland Russland" in Prokhorovka took an active part in the seminar.
Welcoming the participants of the seminar, Olga Prokhorova, the director of the Institute for Cross-cultural Communication and International Relations, professor, doctor of philological sciences, congratulated her colleagues and future specialists with their professional holiday and noted that translators must not only know the basics of translation theory and modern technology of translation, but also apply their knowledge in practice.
“Nowadays, an important requirement for translators is the ability to perform translation qualitatively and on a tight deadline, - said Olga Nikolaevna.
The guests of the seminar presented their reports, which addressed important issues related to the automation of the translation process at the present stage, its advantages and disadvantages.
The topics discussed aroused keen interest of the listeners, the material was new, interesting and useful. All questions were answered in detail.
