A series of adaptation events for international students, aimed at learning about culture and traditions of Russia and other countries, has been continued at Belgorod State University.
World Greeting Day has been celebrated at two university venues – the Centre for Intercultural Communication and the Centre for Peoples' Friendship, where the representatives of university’s international student communities showed everyone how to pronounce the words "hello" and "hello" in their native languages.
According to Kristina Khabarova, the Director of the Centre for Intercultural Communication, the video clip recorded by the students reflects the desire to show the diversity of the student body of our university, which today is represented by over 4300 students from 103 countries, speaking 12 languages.
Olga Lutova, the Director of the Centre for Peoples' Friendship, the curator of the Ecuadorian Student Community, underlined that a variety of activities, where international students take part, provide them with an opportunity not only to learn more about cultural values, but also to get acquainted with the native countries of their friends.
In general, the university has developed a system of integrated work with international students through organising international student communities of Africa, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Latin America and the Caribbean, Ecuador, China, the Middle East, North Africa, and India. The communities are headed by the curators dealing with the issues related to living conditions of international students in Russia. The institute of tutors established serves to ensure the activities, which are extremely important for students during the first year of study. Student associations including International Student Office and Welcome to Russia Club, are also active participants of the integration process.
