A series of educational lectures on Russian history and culture for students from other countries has been continued at Belgorod State University.
The Centre for Intercultural Communication proceed with the project aimed to give international students an overview of Russia. For this purpose a series of events including educational lectures, have been held at the university. The topic of the recent information hour was the Battle for the Caucasus in 1942-1943. Anastasia Strzhalkovskaya is the developer and permanent lecturer of the series.
International students learnt about the significance of the Battle for the Caucasus during the Great Patriotic War. Anastasia Strzhalkovskaya told that the counter-offensive to liberate the Caucasus and Kuban by Soviet troops began in December 1942, explaining that the decisive action of the Soviet army in this operation caused considerable damage to the fascists and influenced the outcome of the Battle of Stalingrad, and named its heroes.
“I admire the strength and tenacity of the Soviet people who were able to overcome all the hardships of those terrible times. We remember the great feat of our ancestors who liberated the world from the Nazis, and once again we thank them for their dedication in the struggle against the evil”, shared his impressions Alisher Alimov, a student of the Institute of Intercultural Communication and International Relations from Uzbekistan.
The young man is interested in the history of Russia as a whole, especially in the history of the victory of the USSR over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
The event was also attended by Kristina Khabarova, the Director of BelSU Centre for Intercultural Communication. Kristina recited “Russia Did Not Start with a Sword” poem by the famous Soviet poet and novelist Eduard Asadov.
