Being involved in the university's volunteer movement, the Centre for Intercultural Communication of Belgorod State University became the venue for the annual charity event to collect gifts for patients of the Onco-Hematology Department of the Children's Regional Clinical Hospital and for the foster-children from the “Warmth of Soul” community-based organization for disabled children.
Traditionally, international students performed a Christmas charity concert. Beside the presents anyone could make a donation to the “Svyatoye Belogorye against Children's Cancer” inter-regional organization. Russian and international students, employees and lecturers of Belgorod State University participated in the campaign.
On the final day of the charity campaign on 18th January, students of the international communities accompanied by Christina Khabarova, the Director of the Center for Intercultural Communication and the curator of North Africa Arabic Student Community and Inna Kuznetsova, the Director of the Center for Civic and Patriotic Education of BelSU Students, the curator of Latin American Student Community, visited the foster-children of the “Warmth of Soul” community-based organization for disabled children. The meeting took place in the hall of the library-branch No.16 of Belgorod Central Library.
International students from Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Algeria, Lebanon, Jordan, Ecuador and Columbia prepared an entertaining program for disabled children and their parents, which included various contests, games, quizzes, poems, dances and songs in different languages. International students told about their countries and national traditions, answered questions and gave sweets to everybody.
At the end of the event presents collected during the charity event were handed out.
The gifts collected this year were also donated to the Onco-Hematological Department of the Children's Regional Clinical Hospital and will be also sent to the “Emerald City” Palliative Care Centre in Korotkoye Village of Korotchansky District of Belgorod region.
