The discussion platform in the format of an open dialogue within the framework of the International Youth Interreligious Forum was organized on the basis of the Projectoria design and educational space.
In order to prevent extremism and terrorism among students, the Coordination Center for the formation of an active civic position among young people, the prevention of interethnic and religious conflicts, countering the ideology of terrorism and the prevention of extremism of BelSU organized a discussion platform on an urgent topic dedicated to bullying – the harassment of a person in a group, society.
During the work of the platform “Bullying, pariahs, outcasts – is it one problem? Is this a prank, a threat or extremism?” the students showed themselves not only as active participants of the dialogue, but also as excellent specialists in their future professional spheres: those present heard both the legal, psychological, and socio-political background of such a complex and ambiguous phenomenon as bullying.
Together with Maria Vinichenko, Director of the Coordination Center, the students of the Faculty of Psychology enthusiastically participated in the work of the interactive platform to demonstrate the negative affect of such a traumatic impact on a person of any age.
The real discussion revolved between the students and Dmitry Krupkin, Acting Vice-rector for Integrated Security and Development of the Property Complex of BelSU, on the issue of attributing bullying to the extremist component. The students had a frank conversation about the goals and format of the manifestation of destructive behavior of the individual.
The students, as future employees of a particular professional field, were especially interested in the issue of interaction in a “boss – subordinate” situation, taking into account cases of a rigidly aggressive leadership style.
“You will not be able to protect yourself from interacting with people who have the status of “inconvenient, undesirable” for you. All people are different, and you and I need to learn to understand, accept, cooperate and build relationships with other people. At the university, you have a unique opportunity to acquire such skills that will allow you not just to cope with such situations, but to use this experience to achieve your goals in the future,” said Dmitry Anatolievich.
The open dialogue will continue on October 25 at 15.00 in the Projectoria space, and everyone is welcome to participate.
The event was held within the framework of the International Youth Interreligious Forum. Earlier, meetings of foreign students with clerics of Islam and Orthodoxy were held, as well as The Debates business game dedicated to the problems of terrorism and extremism.
