The Media Center at BelSU became the 18th location of the Student Media Center of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. Such centers are being opened in Russia's regions to aggregate student media, develop and support youth journalism.
The media center was opened as part of the First Interregional Media Forum of the NRU " BelSU", attended by students of the NRU "BelSU", Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov, Lugansk State University named after V. Dahl and students of Belgorod region schools. The event is dedicated to the Day of Higher School Teacher and the Year of Teacher and Mentor.
The guests of honor at the media forum were acting rector of the NRU "Belgorod State University" Evgenia Karlovskaya and the Minister of Public Education of the Belgorod Region Oksana Tarantova, Minister of Public Communications of the Belgorod Region, Natalia Osipova, Chief Editor of the student media SES: Science, Education, Students of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Ekaterina Kryuchkova, Head of the patriotic projects of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation "Scientific Regiment" and "Into the Heart".
Evgeniya Karlovskaya welcomed the guests of the media forum and wished them fruitful work.
- We hope to meet your expectations, to give you not only impressions but also valuable experience. We define this media forum as a career-oriented one, as it is attended not only by students, but also by more than 50 schoolchildren from the border districts of the Belgorod region. Together with the students, you can already plunge into student life," said Evgeniya Karlovskaya.
Anna Gureeva, Deputy Director of the Information Policy and Integrated Security Department of the Ministry of Education and Science, joined the event via video link. She spoke about regional media centers and their mission, and introduced the participants to the organization's activities.
- Student media is an opportunity for self-realization, self-actualization and socialization of students, as well as a chance to obtain and develop professional skills and competencies. Among the activists of the Student Media Center, 65% of the students pursue their educational path within the framework of humanitarian disciplines, the rest of the students are absolutely not related to journalism or media communications, but nevertheless they develop their interdisciplinary skills, and this is great, - Anna Nikolaevna highlighted the importance of the such forums.
She also added that participation in the project, even for those students who do not connect their future career trajectory with the sphere of media communications, increases their media literacy. These students understand how content is created and distributed, how the information field around it functions, how to distinguish fake from truth. And, of course, this is a great opportunity for students to join a community of like-minded people and participate in major federal scientific and business events.
Oksana Tarantova also spoke to the forum participants about how the Ministry of Public Communications of the Belgorod Region is organized. She suggested that the media forum should result in a large final project and a press conference with Vyacheslav Gladkov, the region's governor.
- Working in the media sphere is a big and hard work. But at the same time it is an inexhaustible source of interesting events, a ground for self-development and self-realization. I am sure it would be interesting for each of you to ask your question to the governor, to learn how everything works from the inside, - Oksana Vadimovna said.
After the grand opening of the media forum and the student media center, the participants moved on to the program of the event. During two days, they will participate in lectures and master classes aimed at developing journalistic skills, learning the basics of photography and videography.
