Twenty-eight young law professionals from Armenia, Belarus, Russia, Syria and Uzbekistan had passed a strict competitive selection to join the summer school organized by Moscow Centre for International and Comparative Law Research.
Alexandros Pasenov, Associate Professor of the Department of Constitutional and International Law of the BelSU Law Institute, represented the university at the event.
The Summer School program included a course on General International Public Law, several lectures on special topics, seminars and independent studies where participants discussed current trends for international treaties, peaceful resolution of disputes, maritime and trade law as well as other topical issues of international law.
The specialist lectures were led by top professionals and researchers: a Twenty Essex Chambers barrister (London) and former UN International Law Commissioner Sir Michael Wood, Judges Kathy-Ann Brown and Ida Caracciolo, members of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS), a UN International Law Commissioner Dr.Nilüfer Oral, Professor Benoît Mayer, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK LAW), and Eirik Bjorge, Professor of Law at Bristol University Law School.
In addition to lectures and seminars, the summer school participants attended informal meetings with Head of the Department of Legal Matters, Registry, International Court of Justice Sergey Punzhin and Ambassador of the Russian Federation to ASEAN Evgeny Zagaynov. Learners were also offered a varied programme of entertainment.
