The conference included the 15th International Forum on Innovative Educational Technologies in Medicine 2024, the 3rd Congress of the Russian Society of Medical Education Specialists, an exhibition of manufacturers of advanced technologies and solutions for medical education, as well as educational organizations.
At the congress, Belgorod State University was represented by delegated from the Medical Institute headed by Andrey Yarosh, which included Assistant to the Director Olga Khalanskaya and Director of the Accreditation and Simulation Centre of the Institute of Continuing Medical and Pharmaceutical Education Andrey Nagorny.
At the annual congress, the participants benefited from the advantage it provides as a platform to exchange experience and keep up on the latest trends and technologies in medical education. The delegates from the Medical institute participated in the conference sections on Professional efficiency and burnout prevention of medical education professionals, Immersive technologies in education, Projects for personnel development from medical classes to targeted training, Medical personnel training and recruitment for the region’s needs.
At the discussion on the widespread employment of simulation and virtual technologies for the teaching process accompanied by an almost complete rejection of training at the patient’s bedside due to legal, organizational and other difficulties, Andrey Yarosh expressed the position based on the advanced experience of Belgorod University.
‘The introduction of simulation and virtual technologies is great, but it should in no way be a substitute for practical training. Our university is focused on immersing students in professional activities as early as possible. We are focused on conducting classes entirely at medical institutions – at the patient’s bedside, in operating rooms, involving leading medical practitioners who work with patients every day and share their experience with students,’ he said.
Representatives of Pacific State Medical University, Mordovian State University named after N.P. Ogarev and other specialized universities taking part in the discussion expressed hope for cooperation with BelSU.
In turn, the organizers of the Congress proposed BelSU Medical Institute professionals to arrive as speakers at the next year’s congress and share their experience in training medical personnel.
