At a recent workforce conference, attendees reflected on key achievements from the past year, identified strategic development priorities for the university, and officially signed the Collective Agreement for 2025-2027.
Held at the Youth Cultural Centre, the event featured a report by Valery Timofeev, Chairman of the BelSU Trade Union Committee, highlighting the successful implementation of the previous Collective Agreement. He noted significant advancements in 2024, including revised wage standards and the adoption of over two thousand documents related to on-the-job safety. A pivotal moment was the signing of an Agreement between the university and its students, reinforcing the spirit of co-creation.
BelSU Vice-Rector for Administrative Work, Vladimir Gerashchenko, underscored the Collective Agreement’s role in fostering a balanced partnership between employees and the employer. He outlined crucial updates aimed at enhancing the remuneration system and supporting young professionals. Vladimir Gerashchenko emphasized the importance of refining the university’s organizational structure to eliminate redundancy and improve efficiency. He highlighted that investing in employee development and recognizing their achievements are fundamental to BelSU’s mission.
The conference culminated in the signing of a new Collective Agreement by BelSU Rector Evgeniya Karlovskaya and Trade Union Committee Chairman Valery Timofeev. Additionally, the Labour Disputes Commission was formed, alongside an updated Academic Council.
BelSU Rector reflected on the accomplishments of 2024 and laid out ambitious plans for 2025, emphasizing the university’s commitment to a collaborative approach. She praised the successful admission campaign and highlighted BelSU’s integration into the federal scientific agenda, particularly in dynamic fields such as new materials, genetic technologies, environmental management, and biotechnology. Notably, eight BelSU researchers have been recognized among the world’s leading scientists.
In her address, Evgeniya Karlovskaya stressed the importance of nurturing young talent through intra-university grants and training programs for doctors and educators tailored to regional needs. She also noted significant progress in partnerships with industrial entities, both domestic and international, with ten new cooperation agreements established in 2024 alone.
Looking ahead, rector affirmed that BelSU’s objectives will align with regional and national priorities, integrating into the socio-economic development strategy of the Belgorod region while ensuring Russia’s technological leadership. The university is poised to cultivate key scientific disciplines and transform educational practices through collaborative partnerships with both existing and new industrial partners.
Evgeniya Karlovskaya expressed her gratitude to the BelSU employees for their effective work and proclaimed 2025 as the Year of Co-Creation. She emphasized that flexibility and creativity should be the primary tools for generating and achieving new ideas and plans.
‘The uniqueness of our results will reflect our ability to work as a team, enabling us to achieve outcomes that exceed our expectations. Partnership and co-creation are not just buzzwords; they are the values that will propel us forward, allowing us to reach new heights and create exceptional results together,’ Evgeniya Karlovskaya stated.
In addition, the rector extended her warm wishes for the New Year and Christmas to the staff. To conclude the meeting, she honoured university faculty and staff with awards of various levels in recognition of their achievements in education, scientific innovation, and their high professionalism and dedication to their work.
