The Department of Preschool, Primary, and Special Education at the BelSU Pedagogical Institute recently hosted an engaging workshop titled “Creativity and Profession: Art in Pedagogy” as part of the University Saturdays event series.
This dynamic event brought together high school students and department heads, featuring a variety of creative workshops such as Art Mood, Pedagogical Creativity and Traditions, and Pedagogical Mastery in the Work of a Speech Therapist.
Dean Alexey Kovtunenko welcomed prospective applicants, providing insights into the Department of Preschool, Primary, and Special Education, the educational programs offered and key details about the 2025 admissions campaign. An information centre was also established to assist schoolchildren and their parents with inquiries about admission to Belgorod State University.
During the Art Mood workshop, participants were immersed in a creative atmosphere, attending master classes in watercolour painting and graphic drawing techniques. Under the guidance of experienced instructor, Associate Professor Angela Danilenko, each attendee created their own unique watercolour artwork. Additionally, those interested had the opportunity to have a graphic portrait drawn by Valery Kuzminov, a member of the Union of Artists of Russia and a faculty member.
In the Pedagogical Creativity workshop led by Associate Professor Natalia Ilyenko, applicants explored modern multimedia tools currently used by primary school teachers. The professor showcased innovative applications designed to foster interaction with young learners, enabling the creation of engaging, visually rich tasks that motivate students. Participants also delved into contemporary technologies for teaching natural sciences, conducting exciting experiments to understand physical phenomena and organizing educational project activities.
The master class Modern Educational Technologies in Speech Therapy provided valuable insights for applicants interested in this field. They learned about advanced tools that enhance cognitive development and deliver high-quality speech therapy assistance. Attendees explored software and hardware complexes aimed at promoting speech and general physical development while alleviating emotional stress. Through interactive games, future applicants engaged with an interactive sandbox and the Kinesis software suite, discovering specialized speech development programs like Mercibo.
The Creativity and Traditions master class offered participants a hands-on experience with traditional folk culture. Attendees crafted dolls dressed in the folk costumes of the Belgorod region. This workshop previously attracted many visitors during the national exhibition RUSSIA at VDNH in Moscow. Participants learned about the unique characteristics of Belgorod folk costumes and mastered the technique of creating traditional dolls, which were not only toys but also believed to possess protective charms.
