Students from various institutes gathered to engage with writers from the Belgorod Region during a special event at Belgorod State University titled “The Path to the Word.”
Organized by the Nikolay Strakhov Scientific Library in collaboration with the Centre for Civil and Patriotic Education, the meeting provided a platform for literary exchange. Olga Anokhina, an employee of the Department for Educational Spaces, served as the host, sharing insights about the history of the holiday and introducing the esteemed guests.
Among the speakers were Svetlana Pryadko, an Associate Professor in the Management and Marketing Department of the Institute of Economics and Management and a nominee for the Alexander Levitov International Literary Prize, along with Alexandra Prodan, a student from the Psychology Department of the Pedagogical Institute. They shared their unique creative journeys with the audience.
Svetlana Pryadko expressed her aspiration to become a published author, noting that she does not yet consider herself a professional writer.
“I’ve been passionate about literature since childhood, always a voracious reader, but I never attempted to write until recently. The need to express my thoughts arose with the onset of SVO; remaining silent was no longer an option. I can write at any time inspiration strikes, even late at night when ideas flow,” she explained.
For Alexandra Prodan, writing has evolved into a powerful tool for advocacy and truth-telling. Having been born and raised in the Donetsk region, she witnessed the beginnings of armed conflict with the Ukraine first-hand. What began as a diary chronicling her experiences transformed into a narrative filled with original characters and stories.
The event concluded with an interactive session where attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and discover the favourite books of Belgorod’s writers.
