Their involvement not only showcases their civic engagement but also highlights a strong desire to assist those in need.
International students at Belgorod National Research University (BelSU), along with those from the preparatory department, are making significant strides in their social and cultural adaptation through active participation in volunteer activities.
BelSU plays a pivotal role in the community, contributing to both regional and national initiatives. The university hosts several volunteer movements that welcome participation from foreign students and those in the preparatory program. These students have been instrumental in packaging humanitarian aid for residents evacuated from the Krasnoyarsk region and collaborating with the Holy Belogorye Against Childhood Cancer foundation.
In addition, students from the preparatory department are actively engaged with the Narodny Front, an All-Russian civil society movement, where they lend their support to various social initiatives. Their involvement reflects a commitment not only to acquiring knowledge but also to making a positive impact on society and integrating into the local community.
Natalia Girenko, curator of the African countries’ community at BelSU, underscored the significance of volunteer work, noting her active participation in such projects and her efforts to encourage student involvement. She believes that volunteering fosters a sense of responsibility and compassion, while also helping international students gain a deeper understanding of Russian culture and values.
