The Eco-Renaissance Ecological Culture Festival aims to promote sustainable consumption and the preservation of nature and its resources.
Sofia Radchenko, a student from the Institute of Economics and Management at Belgorod National Research University (BelSU), spearheaded the Eco-Renaissance Festival, which took place at the Oktyabr Cultural Centre.
The event was organized with the help of members from the BelSU Student Union and a dedicated team of young volunteers from Belgorod, all made possible through Rosmolodezh.Grants support.
The festival featured a diverse program that included master classes on creating useful items and toys from recycled materials, lectures and webinars led by ecology experts, eco-quizzes, relay races, as well as exhibitions and sales of second-hand items.
Over three days, participants engaged in various activities, culminating in a community jog that combined fitness with a clean-up effort in the streets of Belgorod. Attendees also had the opportunity to discuss pressing environmental issues with Roman Tatarintsev, the Minister of Nature Management for the Belgorod Region.
“This was a unique event for the city, as eco-festivals had not been held here for two or three years. People really embraced this format, and I believe we can establish such events on a regular basis to further develop the environmental movement in Belgorod,” remarked Sofia Radchenko.
She also expressed her gratitude to BelSU management for their strong support and assistance in bringing this project to fruition.
