In a recent working meeting, Russia’s Minister of Science and Higher Education, Valery Falkov, and the Governor of the Belgorod Region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, engaged in discussions centred around the upcoming admissions campaign and the enhancement of scientific and educational infrastructure at local universities.
A primary focus of their conversation was the increased number of budget places allocated to Belgorod State University (BelSU) for the 2025 enrolment period. The Ministry has announced a significant boost in opportunities, allowing BelSU to accept a total of 4,269 applicants when including secondary vocational education programs.
For higher education, the number of state-funded places available for bachelor’s, specialist, master’s, postgraduate, and residency programs will rise by 424 compared to 2024. This increase is largely attributed to a focus on priority fields such as engineering, technical disciplines, pedagogy, and medicine, bringing the total to 3,775 state-funded positions.
Additionally, the officials discussed the ongoing development of the scientific and educational infrastructure in the region. They highlighted the forthcoming implementation of the “University Shifts” career guidance project in 2025. This initiative, collaboratively launched by the “Movement of the First,” the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Ministry of Education, and Rosmolodezh, aims to introduce schoolchildren to modern professions and assist them in making informed decisions about their future educational pathways.
