Alongside their basic education diplomas, Digital Department graduates received qualifications as IT specialists.
The digital department of Belgorod National Research University (BelSU) recently celebrated a significant milestone as graduates defended their final projects in various professional retraining programs.
The final certification encompassed ten distinct professional retraining programs, with assessments conducted by representatives from esteemed partner IT companies, including limited liability companies: OOO Applied Solutions, OOO NewDigitalWorld, OOO Ecosvyaz-Center, OOO Aitilekt, and OOO ITS.
Vladimir Lomakin, Head of the BelSU Digital Department, emphasized the value of the additional IT qualifications gained during this training.
"These skills will empower graduates not only to excel in their primary professions but also to lead initiatives in informatization, tackle current and future digital challenges, and assess the significance and practical benefits of the solutions they develop," he remarked.
Among the various programs offered, the additional professional retraining course on Virtual and Augmented Reality Technologies stood out as particularly popular. Out of 189 enrolled students, 174 successfully completed their training and presented impressive final projects. Participants hailed from various educational departments within the university, showcasing the interdisciplinary nature of the program.
The training commenced in September 2023 and spanned nine months, featuring a comprehensive curriculum divided into five key modules: fundamentals of algorithmization, basics of 3D modeling for VR/AR applications, information protection and security, augmented reality technology, and virtual reality technology. A highlight of the program was the industrial practice at OOO 3D Innovations in Saint Petersburg, where students engaged with real production cases, honed their skills using professional software, solidified their theoretical knowledge, and brought their final projects to life.
The Virtual and Augmented Reality Technologies program has successfully fulfilled its mission of equipping specialists with essential skills in cutting-edge digital tools.
“Graduates have gained foundational knowledge and practical resources that will empower them to drive digital transformation across various sectors, including education, science, culture, and medicine,” remarked Olga Satler, head of the BelSU Department of Computer Science, Natural Sciences, and Teaching Methods.
Among the diverse offerings, the “Web Programming in Professional Activities” program stood out as the largest in terms of student enrolment. According to Olga Satler, this program comprised five key modules designed to guide students through the entire process of creating modern web solutions. From designing adaptive interfaces to applying their skills in real-world projects during industrial practice, students were thoroughly prepared for the challenges of the digital landscape.
After completing their theoretical training, students engaged in hands-on industrial internships at leading IT companies, allowing them to solidify their knowledge and hone their skills. In total, over 1,050 students from BelSU, along with peers from the Saratov State Law Academy and the Belgorod State University of Arts and Culture, successfully completed their training and presented an impressive array of final projects. These included innovative legal portals, educational platforms, language resources, and automated business process solutions.
