Recently, the Belgorod State Universal Scientific Library hosted a series of poetry readings focused on military themes.
This event commemorated the anniversary of the Battle of Prokhorovka and brought together local writers, students from Belgorod universities, and young artists from children’s art schools at the SOTY art residence. The evening was filled with heartfelt poems and songs celebrating the heroic deeds on the Prokhorovka field, the bravery of those involved in the Special Military Operation (SVO), and the tireless efforts of volunteers who support both civilians and military personnel daily.
Students from Belgorod National Research University (BelSU), representing countries such as Angola, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Colombia, Congo, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Ecuador, participated in the readings.
One standout participant, Zarinakhon Mamatalieva from Uzbekistan, composed a poem specifically for the event, inspired by her experiences.
“Thanks to the university, we previously visited the museums at Prokhorovka Field and the Bell Tower, where I learned about the details of this monumental battle. It left a profound impact on me and inspired my poem about Prokhorovka that I presented during the readings,” she shared.
Olga Lyutova, Director of the BelSU International Information Centre, emphasized the university’s commitment to introducing international students to Russian culture and history.
“It is important for our international students to understand our gratitude and remembrance of our ancestors’ victory over fascism. We organize numerous events on this topic. It’s heartening to see students engaging with military-patriotic poetry and responding positively to our invitation to share their work in the library. Our efforts resonate with them, and our values become meaningful in their lives,” Lyutova remarked.
