A collaboration with MIA "Russia Today" showcases several dozen striking images that document pivotal historical events, including the Battle of Kursk and the liberation of Stalingrad, Sevastopol, and other cities.
The opening took place at the Centre for Civil-Patriotic Education of Students, where the first visitors to the exhibition, titled Liberation 1943-1945, were students from various institutes and colleges.
Inna Kuznetsova, Director of the Centre for Youth Initiatives within the Department of Youth Policy and Educational Activities, highlighted the partnership between Belgorod National Research University (BelSU) and MIA Rossiya Segodnya, which encompasses numerous projects focused on patriotic themes. She emphasised the significance of hosting such an exhibition during the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland and the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.
"Our collaboration began in 2023, just before the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Belgorod's liberation," noted Kuznetsova. "The media group presented the university with unique collections from Sovinformburo, including archival materials and reports as they were delivered to the announcer Levitan."
The exhibition features only a selection of these archival photographs. Renowned Soviet photojournalists such as Yevgeny Khaldey, Vladimir Ivanov, and Mikhail Melnik captured both monumental political events and seemingly ordinary yet heroic moments from the Great Patriotic War, preserving them for future generations.
Among the displays are images from the Yalta Conference, the liberation of Crimea, and the Donbass operation. Each photograph reveals the remarkable courage and resilience of Soviet soldiers.
Inna Kuznetsova provided insights into each photograph, and attendees can scan QR codes next to the images for additional information in audio or text format.
