Belgorod State University recently hosted a meeting to kick off the new season of its Student Scientific Society.
New members gathered to discover how to engage in scientific research at the university and the benefits it offers. The event, titled "This is the Base," took place in the Projektoria open educational space and welcomed students from various years, including first-year students. Attendees learned about the activities at the Student Scientific Society (SSS) and the vibrant scientific community at BelSU, as well as hearing from those who have successfully secured grants.
The speakers included Elizaveta Bakhmudova, SSS Chair and student at the Medical Institute; Nikita Vereitin from the Institute of Earth Sciences; and Anastasia Golub, a master’s student at the Pedagogical Institute. They shared their experiences in scientific research and their involvement with the SSS.
“Joining the SSS allows you to experience real science right from your first year. It doesn’t matter if you have prior experience or ideas; initially, you can assist your senior colleagues before embarking on your own projects. Many people envision scientists as serious individuals engaged in complex work, but modern science is fascinating and accessible to all,” said Elizaveta Bakhmudova.
Following each presentation, the speakers engaged with the audience, answering questions. Those with the most intriguing queries received a flash drive emblazoned with SSS symbols as a keepsake.
After the formal proceedings, participants enjoyed an informal gathering over pizza and participated in a quiz themed around the Harry Potter universe.
