The BelSU Institute of Pharmacy, Chemistry, and Biology has introduced a new mentoring program designed for young scientists and aspiring faculty members.
This initiative goes beyond traditional formal meetings; it emphasizes real-world interactions with seasoned experts who have dedicated years to mastering their craft in classrooms and laboratories. Experienced faculty from the General Chemistry and Biology departments will serve as mentors to those just starting their professional journeys. Together, they will engage in practical educational projects, such as preparing schoolchildren for the Unified State Exam (ЕГЭ) through an online school, conducting master classes for prospective students during the University Saturdays program, and discussing future career prospects in fields like chemistry, biology, biotechnology, pharmacy, and food technology.
“It’s vital for us that young faculty not only learn methodologies but also feel supported and see tangible examples of success. Having a mentor who has navigated this path makes the scientific journey easier and makes students more approachable,” said Tatyana Glubsheva, Director of the Institute of Pharmacy, Chemistry, and Biology.
For novice teachers, the guidance of a senior colleague extends beyond lesson preparation; it provides an opportunity to adopt effective teaching strategies, foster student engagement, and cultivate meaningful classroom dialogue. This kind of experiential learning, passed down through generations, is what truly shapes exceptional educators.
