Chemistry à la française in Belgorod

Professor Thierry Brigot visited our university within the framework of the 2013 agreement in force on the interuniversity academic cooperation between Belgorod State University and University of Cergy-Pontoise (France).

The Rector of NRU BSU Oleg Polukhin held a meeting with Professor Brigot where they briefed the current progress of the cooperation and negotiated the prospects for its enhancement, with particular focus on double diploma practice for French and Russian students, development of jointly run educational programs in the English language and realization of supervised practical training for recent graduates in the scientific centers and laboratories and of the two universities.

 Later Professor Brigot gave an open lecture to the students of NRU BSU on "Modern Organofluorine chemistry: Synthesis and Fields of Application". Delivering the lecture in English, the scientist spoke about chemical properties of fluorine and its various applications in different scientific areas.

He also attended the scientific seminar that was organized by the faculty of the Biology and Chemistry Department that took place at the Sub-Department of General Chemistry. Professor Brigot spoke to the participants of the seminar about latest researches conducted in the laboratory of the French university. Today Medicine and Biology can greatly benefit fr om the developments of the laboratory SOCSO-PEPTLAB in the field of bio-active molecule study, wh ere the molecules interactions patterns can furnish insights into the nature and characteristics of the biochemical processes and prepare the ground for new high performance medical drugs and products synthesis.
