Russia, Germany: Science and Cooperation

BelSU Rector Oleg Polukhin and representatives of German House of Research and Innovation (DWIH) discussed major lines of cooperation in research and educational activities

It has been about ten years since the University’s senior executives held meeting with DWIH delegates. The University has significantly changed for these years: we have obtained the status of National Research University and have substantially expanded the area of activities, promoted the international profile. Oleg Polukhin highlighted strategic goals of BelSU, among which are further development of excellence in research and teaching, and creating the ground for the University to enter leading international rankings by 2020. Stepping towards the goals, BelSU seeks to extend cooperation with Germany. Belgorod State National Research University currently has eleven agreements with educational institutions of Germany and we can eventually become an accredited office of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) global network.

The DWIH representatives took particular interest in the pursued concept of University development to a world-level research university with ample business ecosystem, presented by Rector. Dr. Berghorn, Director of German House of Research and Innovation in Moscow and Head of Moscow office of DAAD, characterized the presented concept as very modern, and he was agreeably surprised to find that BelSU works in close coordination with industrial enterprises.
