Belgorod State National Research University (BelSU) and Freiberg University of Mining and Technology (TUBAF) representatives signed cooperation roadmap.
The German delegation consisted of Bernd Meyer, Rector of Freiberg University of Mining and Technology, Carsten Drebenstedt, Director of the Institute of Mining and Engineering at TUBAF, andFelix Baitalow, Assistant Rector. The delegates were offered a brief tour round the University, and studied the infrastructure of the BelSU Department of Mining and Natural Resource Management, and viewed the project of University’s Geology Museum.
BelSU has been cooperating with TUFAB for over a year, and the universities managed to establish a solid partnership on science and education. In April, 2014 BelSU was visited by Professor Rudolf Kawalla, and German and Russian sides discussed the necessity of developing a jointly-awarded degrees programme for students of the both universities. First graduates to obtain a jointly-awarded degree will defend their final papers in Freiberg already this summer.
«Today the Belgorod region is one of largest primary producers, and BelSU is seeking to become a centre for qualified professionals training for Mining and Natural Resource Management,” said Oleg Polukhin, Rector of BelSU.
Now the universities’ partnership opens prospects for cooperation in many spheres of bioenergy, mining, and natural resources management.
The signers approved the initiative of jointly-awarded degrees for BelSU and TUFAB students. The universities also aim at organizing joint scientific conferences and publishing their working papers to increase the level of citations of participant scientists.
