BelSU delegation headed by Rector Oleg Polukhin attended celebrations marking the 95th Anniversary of Yerevan State University, and also took part in International conference “Education in the 21st Century: Issues and Challenges” hosted by YSU.
Invited by Rector of Yerevan State University Professor Aram Simonyan, delegation headed by BelSU Rector Professor Oleg Polukhin took part in grand meeting of YSU Academic Council devoted to celebrating the 95th Anniversary of YSU, Armenia’s biggest university.
Oleg Polukhin first expressed his gratitude to the inviting university, and said that BelSU and YSU started cooperation back in 2009, when the two universities participated in the EC-financed programme Tempus IV, in a project devoted to mechanisms providing high quality of internationalisation process. In March 2014, BelSU and YSU signed an agreement on cooperation.
‘Establishing a close partnership with Armenia’s leading University definitely offers new prospects. Our scientists have already started working on joint projects in fundamental research. Besides, we already work on elaborating joint academic programmes in Biotechnology and Microbiology, ’ said Oleg Polukhin.
Later, at the working meeting, BSU and YSU Rectors defined main lines of cooperation and signed the Memorandum of the meeting. The universities will cooperate in the spheres of Nano-technologies, Biotechnologies and IT security. The universities schedule their first exchange of master degree students in Microbiology for October, 2014.
Within the framework of the visit to Armenia, Oleg Polukhin spoke at the International conference on the BelSU experience in University innovation development, and also had a meeting with Armen Ashotyan, RA Minister of Education and Science.
