The meeting of the students from the south-east of Ukraine and the administration of the university took place at Belgorod National Research University.
Today there are more than 450 students from the Lugansk and the Donetsk regions of Ukraine in the Belgorod State University. The administration of Belgorod National Research University arranged the meeting with them to answer their questions, to help solving the problems and to talk about the rules of the university life.
Opening the meeting Professor Oleg Polukhin, the Rector of the University, noted that all the optimal conditions for learning and living will be created for young people who came from the south-east of Ukraine. The Rector emphasized the fact that Russia and Ukraine have always been fraternal states and helped each other. Oleg Polukhin urged everyone to remember this and expressed the hope that the citizens of Ukraine enrolled in BSU will comply with the Russian law and the rules of regulations of the University.
A representative of the migration service attended the meeting. He talked about how to obtain the refugee status or a temporary shelter. A lot of young people have already formalized their rights to such status. Almost all of the students from Ukraine said they wanted to obtain Russian citizenship and to live in Russia. Then Oleg Polukhin offered to create a consulting service under the Law Institute of Belgorod National Research University that will help each student to understand the situation and apply the documents properly.
The classes in general subjects, which were not included in the school curriculum in Ukraine, for example the history of Russia, will be organised for enrolled Ukrainian students.
Also it was announced that the students from Ukraine will get free board and lodging in a hostel, and the funds will be allocated to ensure their hygiene.
Svetlana Ostrikova, the Vice-Rector for cultural and educational activities, invited young people to participate in the student university unions, the student government, sections and coteries.
At the end of the meeting the young people thanked the university management for their support.
