Prospects for cooperation with China Agricultural University were discussed at BelSU

The delegation included vice president of China Agricultural University Prof. Zhang Jianhua, executives of university’s companies, and also Nick Sigrimis, the founder and president of Geomations SA, founded at Agricultural University of Athens (Greece). 

It is a return visit from representatives of CAU. The delegation from BelSU, led by vice rector for research and innovation Igor Konstantinov has visited CAU earlier. The visit resulted a choice of cooperation directions and several BelSU employees were included in expert board for agriculture of CAU FUTONG, which is a part of CAU.

Today, the CAU’s representatives met the principal of BelSU Prof. Oleg Polukhin. He introduced the guests to the structure of the university, basic directions of education and scientific work.

“Our university doesn’t train narrowly focused specialists in agriculture, but we have many specialities, connected with various agricultural lines. Currently we develop such focus areas as microbiology, biotechnology, ecological monitoring; our scientists work at biological preparations, which would be able to replace chemical agents and fertilizers”, – told the principal.

BelSU and CAU have many things in common. For example, they have more than one hundred years’ history, near the same amount of students and teachers, and companies of CAU resemble BelSU’s small innovative enterprises. Prof. Zhang Jianhua thinks that it will allow to use scientific resources in future common projects.

   “We have formidable technological capacity and equipped labs. We work together ith many European and American universities in agricultural technologies’ development. I think we are able to create common projects and receive a state grant for it”, – said Zhang Jianhua.

The guest from Greece, president of Geomations SA Nick Sigrimis told about the cooperation of Agricultural University of Athens with China Agricultural University. The principal of BelSU, Prof. Oleg Polukhin endorced an idea of the 3 universities’ network cooperation in agriculture. He also noted that it deserves a separate discussion.  

 At the same day, the guests of the university visited a botanical garden, the labs of Biology and Chemistry Department and “Nezhegol” recreation facility.
