BelSU celebrated Russian Flag Day
Russian Flag Day celebration became an annual tradition of BelSU. Every year, at 22nd of August all students, teachers, university’s staff and citizens gather at the square in front of BelSU.
Svetlana Ostrikova, vice-rector for culture and education of BelSU congratulated everybody on such Day:
“Today, we celebrate the wonderful day, which represents the symbols of patriotism and public spirit all over Russia. Russian flag unites in itself the heroic deeds of our frllow-countrymen. Let it flatter under the peaceful sky, as a reminder for us to respect past, build present and look into future,” – she said.
First-year students also took part in the event. Aleksandr Hodeev, the student of Institute of Law expressed the best regards on behalf of first-year students.
“We are freshmen, who will soon enter the community of BelSU. Today we participate in one of its traditions. I wish everyone to save and multiply these traditions”– Aleksandr said.
The bright festive atmosphere was maintained by singers from “Veresk” art-studio Mikhail Kozhukhov and Irina Desyatnichenko.
The winners of the poster contest “Freshmen to the university”, which was conducted among the student volunteer squads were also announced at the event. The first place went to Institute of Medicine Medical Affairs and pediatrics Department volunteer squad; the second place went equally to Mining and Natural Resource Management department and Pedagogical Institute History and Philology Department. The third place went to the teams from Institute of Economics and Journalism Department.
The flag-raising ceremony was conducted by The First Vice-Rector of BelSU Tatiana Balabanova, the flag of Belgorod Region was raised by Denis Chulkov, the member of Student Council. The flag of BelSU was raised by Aleksandr Hodeev, the first-year student of Institute of Law.
In the end, all participants let out balloons, colored as the National Flag of Russia.
