Officials from BelSU and regional migration service met the students from Ukraine
At the opening of the meeting, The Principal of the university Prof. Oleg Polukhin said, that all university staff tries to create the most comfortable conditions for the students from South-East of Ukraine and helps them to adapt in new socio-cultural environment. He also reminded that starting from the previous year, Ministry of Education and Science of Russian Federation has been giving quotas for Ukrainian enrollees because of the difficult political situation in neighborhood country. This year, 263 students enrolled at the university by this quota.
Now, there are 953 students from Ukraine study at the BelSU (845 full-time students, 108 part-time students). 576 students live in campus.
All of them are provided with living quarters and boarding, all of them have the access to social life and possibilities for self-expression. The Principal asked them to follow rules of the University and laws of Russian Federation.
“We are very much concerned with the situation of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, and our moral duty is to help the refugees. But we are also aware of our main goal, – to train highly qualified specialists, and your goals – to study and user the possibilities we offer”, – he said.
The important questions of migration were also discussed at the meeting. Deputy head of Directorate of Federal Migration Service Vladimir Evtushenko told the students how to win temporary asylum. It gives the opportunity to legally residue at the territory of Russian Federation and benefits for access to citizenship. Many young people have already applied for this status. He reminded that there is a simplified form for the citizenship application in Russian Federation. It is available if student has only bachelor of master degree.
