Foreign scientists gathered at BelSU to discuss problems of ecology and environmental management in Russia and the world
It was the sixth two-days conference “Problems of ecology and environmental management in European Russia and bordering countries” organized with the support of Ministry of Science and Education.
Belgorod region is situated near the state border, so, it is natural for Belgorod to hold such important event. Besides, the region has its own pressing geoecological problems, connected with iron-ore mining.
At the opening of the conference, the head of BelSU Office of Science and Innovations Vadim Mishunin reminded that the main goal of the event is search for answers on ecological problems.
“A man-made impact on nature leads to environmental degradation. Nowadays, our main goal is to decrease the speed of this degradation”, – he said.
The Dean of BelSU Mining and Natural Resource Management Department Aleksandr Petin noted that it is one of the most important research challenges for the scientists of the university. The Department has been already trained qualified specialists in ecology for 25 years.
“Belgorod region is rich with natural resources. We surely need to develop our region’s industry, but we should also think of its ecological state. So, our department systematically held such conferences for young and experienced researchers”, – he said.
At the conference, the scientists have shared with each other their ideas and opinions and discussed new, perspective technologies in rational environmental management. All works would be printed in an edited volume of the conference.
