Young diplomats at BelSU

An International UN Model in Belgorod is a youth forum recreating the work of UN. The students from BelSU, other Belgorod universities and schools, Voronezh State University and Volgograd State Technological University got an opportunity to take part in International UN Model.

The forum was organized by UN Club of Belgorod State University and culture and education department of BelSU.

“The participants can try to perform the work of diplomats in UN. They need a certain skills in political and economic activities, awareness of the strict parliamentary procedure rules and competence in official UN languages (Russian and English). All problems for discussion are most closely resemble the agenda of UN sessions”, – said administrators.

At the opening ceremony the participants was greeted by vice rector for culture and education at BelSU Svetlana Ostrikova, vice head of BelSU International Cooperation Department Inna Kaskova, vice head of Youth Politics Department of Belgorod Region Pavel Maksimov, professor of BelSU International Relations Department, Vera Malai, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Secretary-General of The Model Kristina Hodos.

The Model has three stages:

1. Extramural stage. A selection. At this stage, the best applied works are selected. The participants should have the following qualities: be initiative and active, responsible, communicable leaders.

2. Intramural stage. The Model session at BelSU. The program includes:
- an insight into the basics of The UN Model’s work;
- business plays for The Model’s key aspects of work: General Assembly (GA), The Human Rights Council (HRC), Security Council (SC);

- modeling and re-enactment of problematic situations occurring at UN sessions.

3. Debriefing.
