Weightlifters of BelSU won two medals for Russian team at World Weightlifting Championships in Dublin (Ireland)
The championship united 600 weightlifters from 36 countries. Belgorod was represented by three reputable sportsmen. Two of three are: Dmitriy Volosovtsev, who had graduated from BelSU and Master’s degree student Ivan Belyaev. Young people are recurrent winners of major international weightlifting competitions.
At the championship Belgorodians took two golden and one silver medal. Ivan Belyaev won by a landside at weight category to 73 kilos. Ivan lifted two 32-kilos’ kettlebells 82 times at “long jerk” exercise. It is twice the result of silver medalist from Kazakhstan, who lifted kettlebells 43 times. It’s not the greatest result for Ivan, – his personal and world record is 87 lifts.
“It is the fourth World Championship for me. I could set a new record, but didn’t go for it: my result was enough for winning. I plan to work for a team at least for a year, to win the country and the World championships if I can, and get the honorary master of sport’s status”, – said Ivan.
Dmitriy Volosovtsev showed the best result at weight category to 85 kg. He made 65 lifts at “long jerk” exercise.
