The team of BelSU Institute of Law took part in Philipp Jessup Contest, – one of the largest and most prestigious law contest in the world
Near 3000 students from more than 700 Law schools of 90 countries of the world have taken part in the contest since 1959.
The contest has a form of mock trial – the model of UN trial. The students represent the claimer state’s side and respondent state’s side. The judges are representatives of legal firms, foreign teachers and professional judges of international courts.
This year the theme of the contest was struggle with international terrorism. All stages (written and oral) were held in English. As a result, the team of Belgorod State University got the 13th place (Voronezh State University – 33, Diplomatic Academy of Russia – 27, MSU – 10, People’s Friendship University of Russia –12).
“The students performed with successfully and gained four ranks out of four. It made them one of the best Russian teams of a national championship, and enter the list of the best contestants on the contest’s web site”, – said the coach of the BelSU team, professor of Administrative and International Law Subdepartment Elena Safronova.
